The COS store, which opened in the heart of the Rottermann district of Tallinn, is a space inspired by the past and renovated from a bakery. Interior Director Delphine Gautier's team reinvented the space by harmoniously utilizing COS's signature minimalist design and 19th-century arch COS Tallinn from DelphineTallinnHear the store story.

BEHIND THE BUILDING 'The industrial-style space that used to be a pastry shop was attractive, and it was nice to be able to recreate it as a new store with its own history and beauty.'

'It was nice to be able to recreate a demolition building with nothing in it. It's like opening a box and seeing what's inside? Just like reading a good book, understanding the history and context of a building can create a new space.'

PRESERVING THE PAST 'We collaborated with the local history committee to preserve the value of the building and make new use of the space. I wanted to create a space where the past and the present coexist without imitating the old feeling. As a result, by revealing the characteristics of the building with opposing elements, it was reborn as a new space while preserving the history.'

(weight of double-decker buses in London) by recycling accessories from the previous COS store.'

'Fortunately, we were able to preserve the characteristics of the original building. The limestone walls contrast with the modern interior, giving it a unique feel. Some parts were already lost or damaged after a long time, but I thought about how to recreate them. you look closely at the wall, for example, you can see the embossed windows.'

NEW STORE, NEW RESPONSIBILITY 'When designing a store, we must take responsibility for the use of energy and materials. We have to respect history and pursue a sustainable way.'

'This store is the first to reuse accessories from the previous COS store. By refurbishing the new Tallinn store, we saved 10358 kg of garbage (the weight of a double-decker bus in London).'

'The reuse experiment was very successful. This allowed us to show the process of refurbishing a large store. More sustainable for the 100% sustainability goalsustainableI'm planning to design my next store in this way.'
